COLUMBIA Graveside service for Thelma Elizabeth Hawkins Winchester, 96, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012, in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Winchester died Friday, November 23, 2012. Born in Union, she was a daughter of the late Wallace Hampton and Ioline Smith Hawkins. She retired as a dental technician at Fort Jackson. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church, Columbia and the Baraca Sunday School class.
Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and John Whipple of West Point, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Marie Hawkins of Union, Peggy Williamson of North Augusta; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Benjamin Winchester; brothers, W.H. Hawkins, Douglas Hawkins, Samuel Hawkins, Glen Hawkins; sisters, Mary Alice Hawkins and Rena Hawkins Gregory.
