Sara A. Snow

Sara Anderson Snow, 92 of Pickens went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1st after a brief illness. The widow of the late Isham Snow, she was a lifelong resident of Pickens County, born in the Oolenoy Valley to the late James Earle Anderson and Mattie Alma Jones. Mrs. Snow was a direct descendant of Cornelius Keith, original settler of the Oolenoy Valley in Pickens County in the mid 1700's and is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Snow retired from the Easley Textile Company after 35 years as a tucker and applique machine operator. She was a lifelong member of Oolenoy Baptist Church. After retirement she enjoyed the company of her own family and church family for many years.

Mrs. Snow is survived by a daughter, Millie Gilcrease, sons, James V. "Jim" (Cherie) and Phillip (Caroline) Snow, all of Pickens. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott Gilcrease, Steven (Jane) Gilcrease of Pickens, Jimmy (Judy) Snow of Greenville, Elizabeth Snow Satterfield of Pickens, and Jason (Gretchen) Snow of Greenville. She was predeceased by two sisters, Thelma Anderson Huff and Emelyn Anderson Conner, one brother, James Welch Anderson and a granddaughter, Georgette Snow.

Additional survivors include thirteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Josephine House and Juanita Robinson for their faithful and loving care given to our mother which allowed her to continue to live in her own home for the past two years as well as the staff of Station A of Cannon Memorial Hospital for their tender and precious care of our mother during her stay there.

Receiving of friends will be 6 - 8 PM at the Dillard Funeral Home on Thursday, January 3rd. The celebration of life service will be held at Oolenoy Baptist Church on Friday, January 5th at 2:00 PM conducted by the Reverend Derril Robinson and the Reverend Carroll Plemmons. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
