Robert L. Dewar
March 25, 1925 - February 3, 2013
La Grange-Robert Lindsey Dewar, 87, of La Grange, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013. Robert was born March 25, 1925 in Harnett County to the late Carl Abernathy Dewar and Maude Mann Dewar. Robert served with the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from the University Of North Carolina with a degree in pharmacy and began his working career in 1950. He began his career with Hood's Pharmacy in Kinston, later worked with Adam's Pharmacy in La Grange and was best known for establishing La Grange Pharmacy. Robert was a member of La Grange United Methodist Church.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Teague officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Lynn Dewar and wife, Peggy of Raleigh, Timothy Sanford Dewar and wife, Nicole of Kinston; sister, Eloise Snipes of Fuquay-Varina; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Dewar and wife, Tammy, Jason Dewar and wife, Marion, Kevin Dewar and wife, Megan, Kristi Jasmin and husband, Andre, Stephanie Dewar; and eight great-grandchildren, Anson, Luke, Rhys, Sam, Josh, Drew, Lily and Kendall. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Sanford Dewar; a son, Phillip Michael Dewar; brothers, Brantley Dewar, Carl Dewar and Rudolph Dewar; and a sister, Doris Gutzwilla.
