Penny Sue Wansten (Mann), 48, was born 8/8/1962 in Grand Rapids, MI. Penny, along with her Husband and their boys, moved to Apple Valley, CA in 1992. She was pronounced dead at St Mary's Hospital ICU, the afternoon of Feb 19, 2011 after a short, fierce battle from a rare and aggressive infection which quickly caused double pneumonia, kidney failure, and cardiac arrest. Not only a loving mother of two and tender wife of over 30 years with a warm sense of humor, Penny was always there, not just for her family but also for all who knew her. Penny was a rare Treasure. She was always there to lend a shoulder to lean on or a few words of wisdom, no matter what craziness may be going on in her life at the time. She always made time for her friends and family to give a comforting hug and a kind smile. She was generous in all that she did, giving of herself to others making their lives better. With her happy heart, she loved through thick and thin, putting others first in her every endeavor. With bright eyes and a beautiful smile, she touched lives wherever she went sharing her special, genuine soul that always left one a better person than before they met her. Being a living example of a Woman of God, it is no wonder that she had gained so many friends from everywhere life had taken her. Penny poured her heart into everything she did. When she was young, she helped many children find Christ through her church bus ministry back in Grand Rapids. She was active in her youth group, in choir and later after getting married, she was the best Youth Pastor's wife anyone could hope for…loved by all. Penny was the Room Mom and Team Mom for all of her boy's events as they grew up. She took extra time volunteering for many years with the Apple Valley Animal Shelter to bring small pets around to the nursing homes to brighten up people's days. Penny became active with the Assistance League of Victor Valley volunteering in many capacities over the years and is now one of their Past Presidents. Later she went into Real Estate and became a Broker working as an Associate Broker with Gary Stater Realty. She was active as a Director and Officer for the Victor Valley Association of Realtors, an active Member of Apple Valley Rotary Club and a Board Member with the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce. Penny is survived by her Husband Don, their two Sons, Nick and Ryan Wansten, her Mother Juanita, and her older Brothers, Dan and David Mann. She will forever be loved and greatly missed. The funeral service will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Road, on Thursday, February 24. The viewing will be from 2-3pm and services will be held at 3pm with reception to follow at Sunset Hills. Memorial donations can be made to the Assistance League of Victor Valley or Apple Valley Rotary.
