Norma L. Steele,
75, of Kingsford, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Evergreen Assisted Living.
Norma was born in Iron Mountain on August 5, 1937, daughter of the late John and Ariel (Roudebush) Lehto and was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Channing High School in 1955.
Norma married Edward "Pepper" Steele on November 23, 1957 in Felch and together they raised three children. Norma worked as a payroll supervisor at Grede Foundry for over 43 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was active in the choir and bell choir. Norma was also a member of Oak Crest Golf Club and was an avid golfer. She served as Girl Scout and 4H leader for many years. Norma also enjoyed playing softball, traveling, working in her flower garden and hunting deer and birds with her husband. She especially enjoyed spending time and attending the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her husband, Edward "Pepper"; two daughters, Susan (Dan "Boone") Schultz of Kingsford and Sheila (Rick) Struebing of Iron Mountain; one son, John (Laurie)of Iron Mountain; a brother, Duane "Dewey" Lehto of Crivitz, WI; sisters, Janice "Jean" (Jim) West of Norway, Darlene (Ron) Solberg of Kingsford and Wanda (Sam) Faull of Norway; six grandchildren, Jaime (Chris) Weerts of Florida, Jaclyn (Chris) Patterson of Green Bay, Stacy (Tim) Fayas of Iron Mountain, Toby (Kaleena) Struebing of Germany and Chantel Steele of Florida and Felicity Steele of Alabama; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Thursday, February 21 from 11AM - 1PM at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 P.M. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate. Burial will be in Quinnesec Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Upper Peninsula Region of the Alzheimer's Association 710 Chippewa Square Ste. 201, Marquette, MI 49855
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Evergreen Assisted Living and the Memory Care Unit at Evergreen for their loving care.
