Natalie (nee: Burich) Hayden, 73, passed away on January 24, 2013 at New Life Hospice surrounded by family after a courageous battle with diabetes. A lifelong resident of Lorain, she was born on November 15, 1939 to Martin R. and Anna (nee: Gill) Burich.
Married 49 years to husband Robert R., Natalie cherished her family, especially her children Robert M. (Hope) and Alexis A. and her grandchildren Kierstyn, Madison and Jason. Natalie was an avid cook who loved family gatherings, especially Christmas. She enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildrens' games and concerts as she could. She was a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan and also enjoyed following Mount Union football. Natalie enjoyed shopping and spending time with relatives.
Natalie was a 1958A graduate at Lorain High School. She received her BS in Education at Bowling Green State University in 1962. She went on to teach at Admiral King High School, where she touched the lives of many students. In 1996, Natalie became a member of the Alpha Xi Delta National Sorority at Mount Union College through the guidance of her daughter. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Pro-Cathedral in Lakewood, and former member of St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lorain.
Natalie will be deeply missed by her family listed above. She is also survived by her sister Nadine (John) Donat of West Hills, California and her brother-in-law, Samuel (Teri) of Ligonier, Pennsylvania. In addition, she is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and longtime friends John and Inge Stemkowski. She was preceded in death by her parents Martin R. and Anna Burich.
The Hayden family will receive friends on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Parastas Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 29th. at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral center .Rev. Fr. Dennis Kristof, of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Pro-Cathedral and Rev. Fr. Basil Stoyka, of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
Contributions can be made in Natalie's name to the Kidney Foundation, the American Diabetes Association and/or Lifebanc (organ/tissue donation).
