Mildred "Millie" Stange was born March 9, 1922 at Prosper ND to Ben and Ella Stange. She grew up in the Davenport area on her parent's farm. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Casselton in 1941, she married Leo Janisch on August 9, 1941 and they moved to San Francisco, CA, where she worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and the telephone co. and they started their family with the birth of their first child Rodney.
They returned to the Durbin area in 1948 and farmed for 30 years. She lived on her grandfather's farmstead until 1992 when she sold it to her daughter Rhonda and husband Jeff. She worked for Jupe's in Casselton and Club 94 for over 30 years. Millie's favorite memory of the Club 94 was all the "young kids", as she called them, who kept her young at heart as she thought of them as extended family.
After selling the farmstead, she spent her summers at Meadow Lake, MN and the winters in Pahrump, Nevada until the passing of her brother Orville, who also lived in Pahrump. Millie's younger years were spent fishing, gardening, playing cards with family and the periodic trip to the casino to play black jack. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and entertaining at the lakes. What her friends and family will remember most about Millie was always being up for an adventure or a good time.
When she could no longer drive, her "best day" was a trip to Casselton with Kirstin for a haircut and a date with "Nooks" at the Club 94. She spent her last year at an adult foster care in Moorhead, Home Appeal (a.k.a. Happy Acres as her children referred to it)! We would like to sincerely thank Gary and Lynne Brock, the owners, for taking loving care of her the last year of her life.
She is survived by 2 sons, Rodney (Kay) and Rickey (Cindy) Janisch of Las Vegas, NV; 3 daughters, Renee (John) Hilborn of Brainerd, MN, Shelly (Jeff) Hakanson of Fargo and Rhonda (Jeff) King of Medora, ND; four grandchildren, Eric Janisch, Rachel Janisch and Kristina Janisch, all of Las Vegas, Stacy (Shane) Pederson of Onamia, MN and six great grandchildren and her long term companion Bob "Nooks" Kapaun.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, ex-husband, Leo Janisch, brother, Orville Stange, sister Elenor Ellingson, beloved dog, Ewok and granddaughter, Nancy Standard.
Memorials can be sent in honor of Millie, to the FM Humane Society and CCRI (Creative Care for Reaching Independence) Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 4, in the West Funeral Chapel, West Fargo, ND, with visitation from 3 to 4.
