Marie E. (Brissette) O'Connell of Melrose died on Thursday, January 3rd , 2013 at the Prescott House in North Andover. She was 93 years old. Born on July 3, 1919 in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Leo & Emily (Mahoney) Brissette. Marie was raised in Melrose and a 1937 graduate of Melrose High School and then attended the Burdett School of Business in Boston. She worked as a secretary for the Lever Bros. of Cambridge for 5 years. Mrs. O'Connell was a Melrose resident for over 60 years, a member of Melrose Polymnia Choral Society, a communicate St. Mary's Church of Melrose for over 50 years where she sang in the choir and played the organ. She loved her grandchildren and was their cherished "Mimi". Marie enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge and Music. She was the devoted wife of the late D. Paul O'Connell with whom they shared 48 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Edmund J. O'Connell & his partner Gregg Brown of CA, Jan Brouillard & her husband Bill of Andover & David O'Connell of Chelsea. Cherished grandmother of Colleen O'Connell, Sean O'Connell & his wife Michelle & Molly O'Connell all of Idaho, Christopher Brouillard & his fiancée Diana Shwartzman of Cambridge & Elyse Seero & her husband Steve of N. Andover. Great grandmother of Lucy O'Connell. Sister of Sarah O'Donnell of NH & the late Leo Brissette, Warren Brissette, David Brissette & his wife Nancy of Melrose. Marie's funeral will be held from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, January 8th at 8AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Arrangements by The Gately funeral Home of Melrose.
