GARCIA

Luis L. Garcia, "Louie", cherished and adored husband, beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.

Louie passed away on November 9, 2012 after a brave battle with leukemia. He was 63 years old. Louie loved music and played jazz and classical guitar. He also played piano and was renewing his interest in the keyboard. Louie had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Louie loved to cook and enjoyed good meals and happy times with his family. He loved to hear and tell jokes, and share a few beers with friends while discussing sports and politics. As an adult, Louie worked for both AT&T and more recently at Newark Electronics, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University, and was always seeking means of spiritual growth and fulfillment.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Mary K. Carpenter and their beloved Kitty; brother Andres Luna (Blanca), sisters-in-law Rosemary (the late Dr. Morton Arnsdorf) Crowley, Patricia Bartolomei, Eileen Schoop (Roy) and brothers-in-law William Carpenter (Jean), and the late Robert McCormick (Mary), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friends and co-workers who all appreciated his goodness and sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents Andres Luna Garcia and Cruz Maria Diaz.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday November 29, 2012 at 1:00 PM (service to begin at 1:30) at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 North Knox Avenue, Chicago, IL 60630. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Anti-Cruelty Society, PAWS Chicago, or any charity of your choice. Interment is private.
