LORAIN - Lillian R. Danicki (nee Springowski), 85 of Lorain, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at New Life Hospice Residential Center Lorain following a short illness.
Born September 4, 1927 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain her entire life. She was a 1945 graduate of Lorain High School.
Lillian worked as a coordinator in Pupil Services for Lorain City School, retiring in 1988 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Lakeland Women's Club, and volunteered at Mercy Regional Medical Center and as a teacher's aid.
She enjoyed cross stitching and crafts.
Lillian was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Surviving is her son, Mark A. (Emily) Danicki of Avon; a daughter, Catherine A. Danicki of Lorain; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Ray and Anthony (Stephanie) Danicki; and great grandchildren, Casey, Julia, Sophia, A.J., Natalie, and Audrey.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alfred H. "Fritz" Danicki in 2005; her parents, Charles and Catherine (nee Vincek) Springowksi; and a sister Henrietta Krafcik in 2005.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 am in the funeral center followed by mass at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Richard E. Hudak, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, NY NY 10163-4777.
