On Saturday, November 10, 2012, a beloved son, brother, and uncle, John Paul Hanson, age 52, entered into eternal rest after a long time battle with complications from diabetes.
Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on June 23, 1960 he was the son of Robert and Barbara Hanson.
John was a graduate of FDR High School in 1978 and continued his education at DCC, HVCC and SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Business Management.
He had been employed before his health issues by Marine Midland Bank in the Proof Dept.
Although John suffered with diabetes for most of his adult life, he still kept a positive outlook on life, and lived it to the fullest.
John had an incredible capability to make anyone smile, and would give everything he had to help people in need.
John loved the band Journey, was a dedicated Miami Dolphins fan, and greatly enjoyed the sport of horse racing his entire life. Most importantly, John loved his family, having four brothers, two sisters, and sixteen nieces and nephews. John will be missed by all, and never forgotten…
John was predeceased in 1990 by his father, Robert H. Hanson, of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is survived by his mother, Barbara A. Hanson, also of Poughkeepsie NY. He is also survived by his brothers Robert, Andrew, Alan, and Brian Hanson Sr., and his sisters, April Cromwell and Tammy Hanson. Uncle John will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Sean, Alan Jr., Thomas, Tristan, Justin, Simone, Brian Jr., Kyle, and Tyler Hanson, James Cromwell Jr., Michael Meisner, Kristen Brockmon, and Brittany Arico, along with his best friend Jack Parker.
John's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the caring support that Pat, MaryAnn, Sandy and the rest of the Ferncliff nursing staff provided John over the last two years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's remembrance to the American Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza Building 2, Suite 204, Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY 12205.
In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
John's family and friends will hold a Memorial picnic next summer at John's favorite spot at the head of the stretch at Saratoga Race Course with a Memorial race named in his honor that day.
