Janice M. Alexander, 56, of Dover, died Sunday February 7, 2010 in her home following an extended illness. Born February 24, 1953, in Dennison, Janice was the daughter of the late James and Vera Schwab. She graduated from Indian Valley South high school in 1971. Janice then went on to graduate with honors from The Ohio State University in 1975 with a degree in physical therapy. One of Janice's greatest joys was helping others. As a physical therapist she served Tuscarawas County and the surrounding area for over 35 years. She owned her practice, Integrated Health Solutions, formerly located at Monroe Mall in New Philadelphia, for over 25 years and also taught therapy courses. As a member of the Four Winds Society, Janice traveled through Peru to study with the Incas. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women and the American Physical Therapy Association. Janice embraced life; she loved to garden, explore, and create. She will be dearly missed by her two daughters Amanda Wolfe of New York, NY and Audrey Wolfe of Cooperstown, NY, sister Pat Smith and brother-in-law Bill Smith of Wainwright, a niece, Shelly Cozart, three nephews, Mark, Mike, and Matt Smith, and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother James"Butch" Schwab. Janice inspired those around her. She wouldn't accept an " I can' t" or "I don't know" answer. Janice was a get it done person. I still have not fully recovered from Janice offering me a wiff of the smelling "potion" she used to provide to the Crimson Chorale singers before a competition. Wow what a sensation ! She was and is a special spirit. She loved her daughters devotedly and her friends dearly. St Peter is in for a treat when she goes through Heaven's Pearly Gates. with love Walt and Lori

Janice took advantage of every moment life gave her. She was so proud of Audrey and Amanda. Always talking about the admirable things her daughters were doing. Janice always went out of her way to help others, to be giving, and to do what she could to show others how to appreciate the goodness in simple pleasures. I am not surprised at all that Janice wanted her friends and family to enjoy a celebration of her life at this time. What a "Janice" thing to do! When I think of Janice, she has the biggest smile, her arms are outstretched about to hug me, and she's offering me another plant from her garden! I have nothing but happy thoughts when I think of her. God bless Audrey and Amanda. God bless Janice. You are in my all prayers.

Janice was a wonderful person and also very caring. She was sovery helpful to Paul after his stroke and helped him so very much. She had techniques that other therapists did not know about or use. It was our priviledge to have know her. Our deepest sympathy to her daughters and family. Jean Kuhn

I want to extend my sympathy to Janice's family. I knew her years ago when I worked at Starlight School and Workshop. What a warm person she was, watching her work with little ones was a joy. I know she will be missed by many but especially her loved ones. If only we could all be like her the world would be a better place.
