James W. "Bud" Barnette, age 87, of Niota, passed away on Monday morning January 28, 2013, at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Niota, retired from the McMinn County School System where he was employed for over 35 years at the bus barn. Preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Kitty Barnette, brother: Hobert Barnette, sister: Suvella Barnette. Survivors include wife of 52 years: Inez Brown Barnette, of Niota, daughter and son-in-law: Sharon and Dwayne Rogers, of Loudon, son and daughter-in-law: J.L. and Connie Barnette, of Niota, grandchildren: Erika Barnette, of Niota, Brandon Williams, of Loudon, sisters: Della Ray Solsbee, of Athens, Mary Faye Trentham, of Niota, special extended family member: Ricky Campbell, of Bristol, TN, Several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Scotty Bales, Ricky Campbell, Edward Barnette, Alvin Millsaps, Tracy Brown, Justin Stiner, Gerald Ervin, and Willard Crush. The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 30, 2013, Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, from 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 8:00P.M. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Steve Teague, Rev. Mark Roberts, and Rev. Martin Bowlin officiating. Interment 12:00 noon on Thursday in the Foster Cemetery in Niota. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
