Vanceboro – Ida E. Massey, 75, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her home. She was born February 19, 1937 in Columbia, NC, daughter of the late Plato and Stella Bateman Swain.

She was a member of Veterans of Foriegn Wars Auxiliary and Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Ora "Buster" Massey; two sons, Wade E. Massey of Landin, NJ and Harvey Joe Massey of Olympia; two daughters, Rose Elizabeth Rivera of Danbury, CT and Sherry Reyes of Whiting, IN; two sisters, Doris Lusk of Iowa and Nina Rowe of Columbia, NC; 11 grandchildren: Lisa Hayes, William Landrie, Leslie Reyes, Jesse Landrie, Robin Reyes, Mary Ann Edwards, Morgan Massey, Jeremy Rivera, McChalah Massey, Travis Massey and Caroline Massey; and 12 great-grandchildren: Caylia Landrie, AJa Landrie, Sybella Landrie, Shelby Landrie, Jeremy Rivera, Ladonta Edwards, Amirah Edwards, Heaven Reyes, Lexie Reyes, Paige Hayes, Richard Hayes, and Nathan Reyes.

Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at The Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Friday between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
