Carolyn Lutz Lousteau died on December 7, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Charlotte Lutz of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and the sister of the late Catherine Lutz Kittler of Little Rock, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband, Ray J. Lousteau, Sr., and by her children, Ray J. Lousteau, Jr., and his wife, Colleen, and Claire Lousteau Petty and her husband, Scott. She was the specially loved "mère" of Alexander Petty, Zachary Petty, and Amèlie Lousteau, who will miss her greatly.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law Fred Kittler; her brother-in-law David Lousteau and his wife, Marie; her brother-in-law J. Keith Lousteau and his wife, Gloria; and her sister-in-law Nancy Ruiz and her husband, Reuben. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
The greatest passions in her life were her family and the pursuit of knowledge. She graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Ft. Smith and earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans. When her family commitments allowed, she earned an associate's degree in interior design from Delgado Community College. After being in business for several years, she developed an interest in accounting. She earned a master's degree in accounting from the University of New Orleans, a CPA, and a doctorate in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.
She was an assistant professor of accounting at the University of New Orleans for five years. During her years of teaching, she was honored by her students for being a mentor, advisor, and friend. Her door was always open to her students.
At home she was an avid gardener and an accomplished cook. She was a member of the Lake Vista Garden Club.
