Camilla Faye Selig, "Grandma Tookie" was born on May 27, 1919 in the very small town of Cecil, Arkansas. Grandma Tookie passed away on November 16, 2012 at the age of 93. She resided in Downey, California at the time of her passing. Grandma Tookie met her husband Adolph Henry in Fort Smith, Arkansas and married on July 6th, 1943. The family relocated to California in the late 1940's and settled in Los Angeles, California. Their only son Larry Adolph was born in October of 1949. Her husband Adolph passed away suddenly in 1957 and she raised her son with the help of her family. Tookie managed property for many years and was an excellent cook. Her only son Larry passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in March of 2012.
Grandma Tookie was a kind and loving soul. She was a classy lady who always took great pride in her appearance and always smelled so good! Grandma Tookie was always happy and loved to be out and about. One of her favorite past-times was people watching. When she smiled her eyes would sparkle and her laugh was infectious! She was a caring person who was always willing to listen and she never judged anyone and would offer advice when asked. She held a plethora of wisdom about life and had many stories to share with everyone. Tookie was an unforgettable woman, truly one in a million. She is survived by her granddaughters, Julie Waters and Diana Selig, great-grandchildren, Jessica Simkins, Johnathan Waters, and Zachary Waters.
She will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts.
