Bernice Logan Cothern of Searcy passed from this life Nov. 4, 2012 at the age of 97, in Searcy, Ark. She was born Dec. 18, 1914 to Charles and Alberta Logan of Strangers Home, near Alicia, Ark.
She is survived by one son, Logan Cothern (Marlene) of Searcy; five grandchildren, Tommy Cothern of Searcy, Kevin Cothern (Kathy) of Jackson, Tenn., Marlo Pulliam (John) of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Tim Langford (Teri) of Little Rock and Mike Langford (Diane) of Jonesboro and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Bottroff of Jonesboro; five nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mack Doile Cothern; a daughter, Phyllis Cothern Lamberth; two brothers, Paul Logan and Tom Logan and a sister, Pauline Sahagain.
She was a long time member of the Bald Knob United Methodist Church where she participated in many aspects of the church, including the Church Choir, the United Methodist Women, also serving as a District Officer. She was involved in her Sunday School Class. She worked with her husband in Cothern's Department Store in Bald Knob for many years. In her later years she lived at Harding Place in Searcy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 6-7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. A memorial service will be held at the Bald Knob United Methodist Church, Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. A private burial will be held preceding the service. Arrangements by Powell Funeral Home of Bald Knob.
