Athaline S. Fisher, 87 of the 1100 Block of Centre Avenue, transitioned to eternity to meet her husband of 52yrs, John T. Fisher, Jr. in glory on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 3:55 p.m. She was born in Suffolk, VA, where she was a 1942 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and then attended Bennett College in Greensboro, NC. Her spiritual affiliation was with Zion Baptist Church where she was a member for over 50 years until her health failed. She was an Emeritus member of the Epicureans, a member of the Merry Makers Club, and Martha Chapter #10 Order of Eastern Star. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Karen Fisher Davis (Glenn), a son Jeffrey T. Fisher (Nichol) a brother, Wilbur "Jack" Sharpe (Marian), grandchildren, Glenia Athleen, Jasmine Tye, Jayda Tenae and Justis Tiara, great grandson Cantrell Eric, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A celebration of her life will be held Monday 12 Noon St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Kelvin Turner, pastor of Zion Baptist Church. The entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, VA. Viewing will begin Sunday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The body will be in church at 11 a.m., on Monday.
