Agnes J. (Perrault) Burke, of Melrose, died at the Golden Living Elmhurst Nursing Center in Melrose on Dec. 28, 2012 at the age of 89. Agnes was born and raised in Skowhegan, ME and was a graduate of Bloomfield Academy in Maine. She resided in Melrose since 1966 and worked as a Historic Tour Guide for Michaud Tours in Salem and Yankee Holiday Tours for over 25 years before her retirement. Agnes was a founding member of the New England Tour Guide Association and taught CCD at home for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, cooking and telling stories.
Agnes was the beloved wife of Robert J. Burke for 65 years. Loving mother of Michael Burke of FL; Mary DePalma & her husband Jerry and Cynthia MacDonald & her husband Kevin, all of Cape Cod; Daniel Burke & his wife Susan of Malden; Timothy Burke of Melrose; Robert Burke & his wife Eileen of Melrose and the late Thomas, John Hector and Kevin Burke. Cherished grandmother of Thomas, Kristen, Mikki, Katie, Alex, Jack, Shannon and the late Jacob. Caring great- grandmother of Tivoli, Ari, Emori, Amiti, Kenneth and Kellen. Sister of Katie Gamage of ME, Joan Scheferman of NY and the late Marguerite Buteau and Joseph Perrault. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday January 4th at 9:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8 PM. Burial will be at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose, following the Mass.
