Larry and I worked together for many years in Wayne Co. He was dedicated to family, all the children he helped as a child support specialist, and to workers everywhere, especially in Wayne Co. He made life better for so many and I will remember him always.

I worked closely with Larry for many years. He was a courteous and gentle person who gave of himself to help others. He was committed to the union movement and seeing that justice was administered fairly to fellow co-workers. He was generous with his time and serious about learning as much as possible about labor history. Larry had a quirky, dry sense of humor but was always kind. I have been honored to know him. My condolences to his family, who will surely miss him greatly, as we all will.

I met Larry when I moved to Detroit in 1975.
We became friends and spent alot of time socializing,listening to music,going to parties,clubs,etc.
I can't think of only one memorable event. I just remember enjoying Larry's company for many years.
Larry will be deeply missed.
May he rest in peace.

Hopp, you are already, and always will be, greatly missed! You were like an uncle to me and I loved you dearly. Thank you for being a good friend to both of my parents, and for being a part of my life. I am so glad I got to see you last time I was home - our lunch at Olga's will be my last memory of you, but it was a good one! I am sure you already up there making the other angels laugh.

Much love,

Besides being a good friend from the time we met at DSS, Larry is one of the founders of what is now the largest local in the UAW. Coming through WEU, AFSCME, MSEA, SWOC, and more, Larry stuck up for workers and clients alike. Good man.

I worker with Larry in Child Support for 20 years. Although I haven't seen him since retirement, we kept in touch via e-mail and occasional phone calls. He was a good friend with a great sense of humor. I admired his positive attitude despite hhis many health problems. I am very sorry for your loss.

Memories of Larry Hopp;

I first met Larry in 1979 and we have been good friends all these long years. We would talk on the phone often and exchange emails ever so often. We were always concerned with his health. This month however was worse and we conversed often over our ills. Both Larry and I ended up in the hospital this month. He called often while I was there to ask my wife Barbara how I was doing and when
