I don't know how I missed hearing of his passing. I am extremely saddened to know that I will never again have the pleasure of seeing him at Walmart but I will continue to remember him fondly from the time I spent in the Coldwater Band room. Mr. Burkholter was truly a special man - he will be missed.

RIP Mr. Burckholter: You gave me the chance to play drums in marching band, and turned me into a true musician, by letting me play sax in concert band, and playing piano in stage band, and also had your wife guide me playing piano. Thank you for the memories!!!
- lake worth, FL - he was my band director Dec 19, 2012
I got to know Walt when I started teaching at Washington Court House. I was a bit of an oddball having just come from my Army assignment in Vietnam. Walt did not hesitate to welcome me to the faculty. We spent many a "free period" in the teachers' lounge talking and telling stories. He was good to me, and I missed his company when he left. RIP Walt. You are remembered.

I have very fond memories of Mr. B and band. I walked into his office in 5th grade knowing nothing about musical instruments, and he decided I needed to be a trombone player. I can still picture him walking beside the band at parades and signaling for percussion to get the band playing. Lots of fond memories. He was a great band director and will be remembered fondly by many. He touched many lives. May everyone's warm memories of Mr. B help you and your family through this difficult time.

To Mr. B's Family,
I don't think I ever meet any of you but I sure did know Mr. B. he was such a sweet caring man. I was just talking about him the other day to some of my friends and was telling them we were the best band around when he was the band director. I am so sorry about your loss but I know you know what a wonderful man he was. I know that God is with

One of the nicest workers from walmart. He helped me and my grandma for a half hour to find an air filter once. Truly dedicated person. RIP Walter. Have fun in heaven.

Mike, so sorry to hear about your father. He was my band teacher, and I had no talent. But he accepted me anyway, and gave me many more passes for unruly behavior than I deserved. I have such fond memories of him, as so many of us do. My thoughts are with you and your family.

To Mr. B's family: I don't think I ever met any of you, but your beloved husband, father and grandfather was one of the most important people in my life when I was in the band at Washington Jr. and Sr. High School. He was my band director when I started with the band in 7th grade, and he was still my band director when I graduated from high school in 1971. He was tough and loving, more like a
