Memories & Candles
I just found out about President Hilton's passing. He taught me many things while being my Mission President from Dec. 1980 to Dec. 1982. The greatest was by serving others, we truly learn to Love them. He was a great man, and leader. I will remember forever his testimony of the Savior. So sorry for your loss Sister Hilton and family.

I am sorry to hear that President passed away. He was a great man. I really enjoyed having him as my Mission President. He taught me many things. I just got through reading some of the things that he wrote to me while i was on my mission. I served from 1980 to 1982. I did see him about 15 yrs ago at the Walmart near where you live. Well may the Lord bless you and Keep you in this time in your live. Love you Elder Norman Wayne Scott 48 Road 6630 Kirtland NM 87417.(505) 598 5984.

Dear Colleen and family,
We were sorry to hear of Pres. Hilton's passing. I well remember serving as Young Women's President while he was Bishop. I learned so much from him about the gospel and righteous leadership. He was a "good and faithful servant of the Lord."
Your family was exemplary in our ward. Kathryn and Laurie were Young Women at that time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you have comfort and peace at this difficult time.
Love,
Emilee and Val Oveson

Dear Sister Hilton and Family,
It was with great sadness that I heard the news today of President Hilton's passing. I want you and your family to know that I count my years in the Virginia Roanoke Mission as some of the best of my life. Memories and lessons from that period still impact me to this day. Evidence of your leadership in the mission was shown by the numbers of missionaries who chose to stay the full two years when

Dear Colleen,
I was a room mate of Bruce at BYU. Carol and I became acquainted with all of the Hilton family and with you and Gill through Bruce when you lived in the BYU student housing (where the Law school now stands). I admired Gill's academic discipline and thirst for knowledge. We knew you had gone on to Chapel Hill for Gill's graduate studies, and now learn of your full life or service and devotion in rearing your family together.
Our sympathy and love to you and your family.

Dear Colleen and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We are so thankful to have known Gill and to have been a beneficiary of his wonderful example. Since John and Tiff got married, I have felt that I gained another family in you. We have always appreciated you coming to support us at mission farewells, homecomings, weddings and seeing you at other family events. We especially loved visiting your home and being introduced to things like "Christmas Pie"!
Love,

I knew Gil first first as a student and then as a faculty member in the Department of Statistics. In large measure, I attribute the direction I took in my career to his mentoring and support. As a very young faculty member he put me in charge of a project to write an introductory textbook for Statistics 221. That culminated in a book published by Houghton Mifflin. He supported and encouraged my application for a sabbatical with the Bureau of

Dear Coleen and family,
An icon has left us--but for a short while and then we go where he is. As I read the obituary I reminissed on school days and their impact in my life. Gill was for me an anchor at a time when I needed one. He believed in me and just being around him gave me strength in everything I did. Coleen, you were the same--your influence cannot be measured. We loved coming over occasionally and seeing
